Happy Birthday Grandpa!

It is my grandfather's 80th birthday so we had an open house and a family dinner for him today! I think he really enjoyed seeing all his family and friends. He is a retired fireman so it was nice to see that some of his fellow fighters stopped by, he even had a few pop by in a fire truck.  I can't even remember ever getting together with this side of the family so it was nice to see them.

I used the Lots of Bots stamp set, I have had this set for a while and never had a chance to use it, so what better reason then for a birthday card. I used Night of navy, Whisper White and To the Nines DSP. I used the watercolor crayons and an aqua painter to shade in the robot.

Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary dad and mom! They celebrated their 31st anniversary this week. I really liked the wedding card I made the other day and I knew my mom would too so I decided to make a similar one for them.
I used the Of the Earth stamp set, this really is a beautiful set and I like that you can do so much with it, I also used the Teeny Tiny Wishes set. I used Melon Mambo and Whisper White paper, the in-color markers for the flowers and the butterfly, Melon Mambo Polka dot ribbon and the textured impressions Finial Press.

For the Newlyweds!

My friend Kristie whom I met through Stampin' Up! is getting married this Saturday. I am so happy for her and wish her and Shawn all the best. The weather forecast is calling for rain, I hope they are wrong like they ever so often are.
Her wedding colors are So Saffron and Elegant Eggplant, I never would of put these two colors together but the more I do the more I like it. I used the Of the Earth and Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp sets.

Fall is coming!

This is a very simple card to make, I used Crushed Curry, Soft Suede and Pumpkin Pie. Each square can be made using the 1 1/4" square punch, I used the large oval, small oval, word window and the 1/4" circle punches with the thinking of you stamp from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set. I used the Earth Elements brads, I find that this brad looks More Mustard if you use it with More Mustard card stock and Pumpkin Pie if used with Pumpkin Pie card stock. The leaves and squash are stamped on watercolor paper then colored with the Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Dusty Durango markers then I went over them with the aqua painter.

Sorry I have not posted anything lately, my family went on a camping trip! Camping sure is a lot of fun but also very busy and very dirty when you have two little ones. I was surprised at the weather, we had a bad storm (including hail) the day we left and it felt like fall for most of the weekend.

This card uses the Snow Swirled set and the colors are Whisper White and Real Red. The snowflakes and the seasons greeting are embossed using silver embossing powder and the Real Red paper is stamped with the 2 smaller snowflakes using Real Red ink. I used the 1/4" Real Red grosgrain ribbon and a rhinestone brad.

Snow Swirled

Snow Swirled was my favorite Christmas stamp set last year and I made so many cards with it. It is still my favorite, I just love the Christmas tree. Don't be surprised if you see lots of cards on here using this set. This card is made with Night of Navy, Brocade Blue, Bashful Blue and Whisper White. Each square is 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" and the season's greeting's is 2" x 3/4".
Enjoy your day!

Punched Turkey!

I saw this adorable Turkey on Heather Summers blog, (http://www.stampwithheather.typepad.com). I decided to make a 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" card with it, I used the Happy Thanksgiving Stamp from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set. You could also use this card as a place card for your Thanksgiving dinner, just put each person's name where the Happy Thanksgiving is.

Season of Friendship

More fall stuff! I think that everyday we get closer to fall I will be inspired to create something for the season. I used the Season of Friendship stamp set, Soft Suede Polka Dot Ribbon, Pumpkin Pie, Soft Suede and Whisper White card stock. Each leaf is done using three colors, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Dusty Durango. Remember that when you use more than one color on a stamp it is best to go lightest to darkest to get the best result.

Slide down card

I had such a great time with my fellow demonstrators the other night. I look forward to meeting with them every month, it is my big night out.
I cased this card from my up line Pat, She always makes such beautiful cards. Her slide down card was a 3 1/2 x 5 1/2, I find you want to make the card size based off the size of the stamp you are going to use so I made mine a 3 1/2 x 3 1/2, I used the hostess level 1, Of the Earth and Short and Sweet stamp sets.

Rock-a-bye baby 12 x 12 scrapbook page

I was inspired by the rock-a-bye baby 8x8 page in the April 2009 Stampin' Success issue. I made mine a 12 x 12 and changed a few other things. I really do love this stamp set (Nursery Necessities) for little baby boys. I did make this page a while ago so there are some retired papers involved, I just wanted to share this page with you, it is one of my favorites.

I ended up with this card when I was coming up with my 12 year old nephew's card and thought it would be better for a younger child's birthday. It is a quick and simple card to make. I used the Under the Stars bear and the All in the Family Accessories stamp sets and the colors are from the Bold Brights family. I stamped the bear on watercolor paper, I find it so much nicer to color on then just regular card stock, it doesn't leave such noticeable streaks.
Thanks for stopping by!

Of the Earth

I am going to be getting together with my fellow demonstrators for a shoebox swap this Thursday night. I love getting together with all these ladies, they are all so creative and have such different tastes. I almost always go home wanting a new stamp set I never thought I would buy. This is the card I created for the swap. I used the hostess level 1 set, Of the Earth and short & Sweet. I was so excited o use the new Textured Impressions Finial Press, I just got it today! I think I will be using it a lot, I really like textured backgrounds.
Have a great day!

Craig's Birthday!

Happy Birthday Craig! My son turned two yesterday and we had a wonderful day! We had family and friends over for a BBQ. I decided to use the Choo Choo set and make trains the theme.

Here is the invitation we sent out!

This is Craig's birthday card from us, I I am so happy with how it turned out.

Craig stood there looking at the trains for a few minutes, almost like he was reading a book, I am glad he seemed to like it.

These were our party favors. The entire train is made using Stampin' Up! paper. I used the All in the Family stamp set to fill each train with children! There is a little boy in the center of every train that is meant to be Craig.
Both sides of the train looks the same. It is hard to see but in each box there is a licorice type treat for small children and I made a cover for each one and put a train on the front

Keeping with the theme I made covers for chocolate bars to give to the older kids.

Here is his cake, I really enjoyed making this cake, it was a little difficult to ice since the train was upright.

And finally here is our sweet little birthday boy! He had more fun putting this bow on his head then he did opening gifts, what a cutie!

Autumn Fun!

I am really enjoying the Autumn Harvest stamp set right now. I really liked the fall card that I created the other day so I decided to do scrapbook pages using the same idea. Both pages are created  using More Mustard, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla and Watercolor paper. The More Mustard is sponged using More Mustard ink and the rest are sponged using Soft Suede ink. It is hard to see but the background is stamped with the leaf stamp using  VersaMark. The letters are from the On Board Timeless Type and are sponged using Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie. The leaves are done the same way as explained in the Autumn Harvest! post.

Nursery Necessities!

I have been trying to catch up on my scrapbooking, I don't think I will ever be caught up. Maybe when the kids start school in a few years! The first page looks better in person, it was hard to get a good shot of this one for some reason, it looks like some of the letters are missing in the border. I used the Nursery Necessities stamp set and the Nursery Letters wheel.

One of the girls from my stamping group is getting married at the end of the month and we had a surprise shower for her. The colors for her wedding are So Saffron and Elegant Eggplant, everyone made 10 thank you cards for her as a gift. This is the card I came up with using the butterflies die for the Big Shot. It is hard to tell but the background is embossed using Backgrounds 1. Hope you enjoy!

Autumn Harvest!

My favorite season is fall, I love all the wonderful colors the season brings. I think trees just look so beautiful as the leaves change. I am very happy with how this card turned out, I used the Autumn Harvest stamp set, I decided not to put any words on the front of the card because I like the way it looks without them.

I stamped on watercolor paper using basic brown then colored each image from lightest to darkest using Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Dusty Durango, and Soft Suede markers then blended them with the aqua painter. I used Versa Mark for the background.I sponged all More Mustard paper with More Mustard ink and the Soft Suede and Watercolor paper with Soft Suede ink. The More Mustard brads are mounted on a 1/4" circle using the punch. I also used the Scallop Edge punch.

Happy Birthday Samantha!

It was my niece Samantha's 3rd birthday so I made this cupcake card for her using the Simple Birthday Thanks Stamp, I used Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay and Rich Razzleberry card stock. It is hard to see but I Textured the white paper using the big polka dots from Backgrounds 1. The number three is chip board sponged with Melon Mambo ink. Her birthday is my reminder that I only have one week left to get everything ready for Craig's 2nd birthday party, I almost have all my party bags made, I am excited to show them to you later in the week.
